The Bowditch curve is the locus of the equations shown below.

In the case that n=1 and d=0, the equations for the Bowditch curve represent a line. When n=1 and d=π/2, the equations represent an ellipse; when a=b, the ellipse becomes a circle. In the case that n=2 and d=π/2, the equations represent a section of a parabola.
